Guests in Town? Always something to do in Vancouver

Guests in town, and thinking of a place to go?

The best places are not too hard to find. Consider music festivals and celebrations. You may also want to set your calendar for the annual  Pacific National Exhibition in Vancouver, always a fun place to listen to live music, eat cotton candy, or walk through the shopping areas that always have exciting home products and demonstrations. A few years ago, we got our photos taken with the pleasant and outgoing Tony Orlando, who headed the popular Tony Orlando and Dawn TV show years ago.  August’s music lineup promises to be exciting and will showcase  great acts and stars from yesterday.

For great food and music, check out the lounge area at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, conveniently located in downtown Vancouver. A few months ago, we listened to cool jazz music sung by a talented musician from New Orleans. His music case was as distinctive as his music –it contained stickers from most places in the world –showing just how far he has traveled around the world.

With no cover charge, and tasty food that included a generous portion of nachos, and mini burgers –me and my guest were in food heaven.  Of course, if you are really hungry, you can’t miss the fabulous, but a bit pricey lunch buffet at Griffins Restaurant.

If you are looking for cheap eats, you can find them at either the colorful Richmond or Chinatown Night Markets on weekends.

Keep on smiling!
