Fun, Sun and Blues Music Featured at the Burnaby Blues and Roots Festival

Aug 13, 2011

The sounds of blues and roots music poured out from Deer Lake Park on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Thousands of people, bedecked in summer clothes descended onto the park to hear musicians and relax in the park’s well manicured lawns. The lines were long for the washrooms and the concession stands, which sold popular items like  fish and chips, and mini donuts. There were vendors selling jewelry and clothes, as well as unusual art. But the main event were the artists, which featured k.d. lang, John Mayall, Luke Doucet,  Imelda May, Secret Sisters, Matt Andersen, Current Swell, and Ben Rogers and Black Oats.
