If you are looking for a place where earth meets heaven, then that place could well be Vancouver’s famous VanDusen Garden. It’s clearly, a jewel of a park and one that will delight people of all ages. If you plan to go, don’t forgot to grab some sturdy walking shoes and cameras are a must since you definitely will want to snap photos of the trees and flowers in all its wonderful glory. With fall upon us, the trees in the park  sparkle with various shades of orange, red and yellow. Earlier this month, we were fortunate enough to grap a ride in a golf cart, driven by an enthusiastic volunteer who pointed out areas of interest and gave out interesting facts about this immense and scenic garden. The free one-hour rides are great for people with limited mobility and are offered by the garden on a limited basis and on this particular weekend, this was going to be one of the last opportunities to take the golf cart ride, until at least next year.

The variety of plants and trees found in this carefully arranged garden are a cross-section of the type of foliage found in countries across the globe. It’s hard to believe that 9 full-time gardeners with seasonal interns are tasked with the responsibility of maintaining the beauty and the maintenance of all the plants in this 55 acre garden.

Features inside this garden include ornamental fountains, large stone sculptures, jade rocks, a delightful English-style garden maze, a heritage vegetable garden, a waterfall, and a large sin0-Himalayan garden. It may take several visits to take in all the delights which this garden has to offer and where you also have the space to meditate at the glory  and the beauty of nature.
