Vancouver Streets Come Alive With Blooming Cherry Blossoms
by Staff Writer

You don’t have to be a romantic to appreciate the lovely pink and white blossoms that adorn Vancouver parks and residential areas in the month of April.

Late March and April are the best times to see these colourful trees in bloom. Locals love these trees so much that you will find many admirers stride up and take their pictures next to a tree. Vancouver’s love for cherry blossoms ballooned into an event called the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival, which runs from April 4 -30. The festival features illumination tours where you can take a night time stroll to see the trees, a haiku contest, dance, tree talks and walks and even food.

Other places to catch these wonderful trees include: Stanley Park, near the rose garden, VanDusen Botanical Gardens which boasts 24 varieties, Queen Elizabeth Park and the UBC Nitobe Memorial Garden.

If you don’t have time for a stroll, don’t worry. It’s hard not to catch sight of the trees. There are 36,000 cherry trees that come in bloom all over Vancouver.  You can join a bike tour to see the trees, catch a talk or take a pic. Just remember: seeing the trees will make you feel better and bring you closer to nature.
