Soho Tea Room Offers Cheat Eats, Tasty Menu
by Staff Writer

by Sylvia Chan

Conveniently located next door to the Park Theatre is a new Chinese restaurant offering a wide-selection of Chinese and Western foods that is both cheap and filling. The new Soho Tea Room at 3446 Cambie Street offers a good selection of food under $10. The clubhouse sandwich is cut into large sections and served with fries. Plenty enough for me to share with my female companion who ordered a bowl of soup.

My companion dined on a generous portion of Chinese seafood noodle soup, which surprisingly came with a bowl of Russian borscht soup –part of the daily special. Although the server  handed out the wrong soup to my female companion who ordered seafood chowder and received Russian borscht soup instead, the male server promptly apologized and fixed up the mistake by generously offering a free bowl of soup.

We promptly forgot about the mistake and since the price was right and the food was filling and generous, we left as happy diners.

The menu is too numerous to mention and I made a mental note to  come back and try some more dishes like the steak and rice dish  for about $8.

I picked up a party take-out menu and was surprised by some of the great prices, which includes the smoked salmon platter ($45), roasted turkey, ($50), and the Thai Seafood Salad. ($40).

If you are looking for a place to hang out before the movie starts, check out the Soho Tea Room. The only thing is you might not have room for any popcorn.
