Winter Is A Perfect Time To Eat Chestnuts in Vancouver

by Charles Works

If you like winter activities, head on out to one of Vancouver’s many places for fun in the snow.

One popular destination is Whistler where outdoor buffs can participate in a variety of activities including downhill or cross country skiing. What makes Whistler a popular destination is the fact that it is located in one of the most beautiful places in B.C. It’s glorious mountain scenery is home to a variety of wildlife including eagles and bears. It also has plenty of restaurants, pubs and night spots to suit every budget.

For the more daring, you can participate in Heli-Skiing where you and your group will be taken by an experienced guide to a skiing area that promises to be exciting and memorable. The trip also includes a mountain lunch.

You might also try ziplining —an activity where you will be suspended up and given an opportunity to zip down to see various creeks and trails. The price is between $69 to $89 for various 3 hours zipline tours.

If you’ve seen the Bing Crosby movie, White Christmas, the romantic notion of enjoying a  a sleigh ride is a reality in Whistler. You can take a horse-drawn carriage ride through the Whistler village while sipping hot chocolate and taking pictures.

Dining out in Whistler is just as spectacular. Whistler Village is home to the variety of restaurants that span all types of palates. Many are also award-winning.

If you plan to go to Whistler from Vancouver, make sure you allow for plenty of  time to get there  since snow and other winter conditions could delay your arrival time.
