Visitors Flock to See Totem Poles in Stanley Park
by Staff Writer

On a recent warm day, a few dozen visitors flocked around a group of immense and colorful totem poles in Stanley Park.  Many sat around the area,  chatting with each other and having  their photos taken in front of the intricately carved poles, carved by the First Nations People of BC.  The totem poles are among one of the most popular sites in the park, viewed by bus loads of visitors in the summer months. In the off-season, parking is a bit more easier to find, and I was able to take some shots.  During the summer, it is a bit more challenging to find a parking spot in front of the totem poles.  It is recommended to park further away and walk to the site, or walk or cycle to the area.

The totem poles are located within proximity of the park’s seawall, which is popular among joggers, walkers and cyclists.

What Else to Do at the world-famous Stanley Park?

If you like in-line skating, this is where you come. You can bike around the seawall, eat fish and chips at a restaurant which overlooks a great view of the inlet, walk or jog around the park, visit the aquarium, swim at the nearby pool, or just relax among the park’s tall, majestic trees.  Of course, you can always check out the totem poles.
